Went there for the BVAC Classic car show.
Parking was good, but the entrance to the event from the car park was poorly envisaged as there was a fence in the way. The only way in and out of the event was to climb the fence or walk God knows to where to get round the fence as there were no signs or staff to help.
The event itself was good with lots to see, but plenty of walking on uneven ground was required. Good weather made it a good day out for most of the really large crowd.
This an absolutely stunning stunning venue. The grounds and organisation is perfect and I was lucky enough to meet the family. They were wonderful and so welcoming. I was there for the Scottish Summer Hill Rally and enjoyed the Thirlestane venue hugely. What a gorgeous castle and great event destination. Two friends actually stayed in the castle too and loved it. They were treated like kings
Great stately home with a lot of space for the kids to play.
I and the family visited on a specific event experience weekend with a mass classic car display.
On this day there was plenty for kids, of all ages to see, do and eat.
Didn't go into the castle itself but it looks a fantastic place to visit.
Amazing tour! My dad and I really enjoyed it, so informative and interesting. Both tour guides were warm and friendly. The history that this castle has is vast and varied. Would recommend to anyone who likes this sort of thing!
Went here with a couple of classics to the yearly car show on the grounds in front of the castle.
The grounds here are exceptionally scenic and on a nice sunny day even better.
Although I didn't go in the castle it was open to wander round and several people did when I was looking in.
How can I put into words the feelings we all felt not just by staying in a perfect, beautiful and sublime apartment within the absolutely stunning Thirlstane Castle, but by the obvious care taken by the staff to make sure we were all looked after, catered for and kept in touch with at all stages of booking, payment, arrival and beyond. Simply stunning, stunning, stunning!!
Was a lovely castle and grounds, the tour was good, just felt it wasn't quite worh £15 each.
As a wedding photographer, I had the opportunity to work there a few times. Thirlestane Castle is one of my favorite castle wedding venues in the Scottish Borders. Beautiful interiors, the possibility of sleeping in the castle, a charming outdoor environment that gives a great opportunity for creating amazing couples portraits. It's a perfect wedding venue whether you're planning an elopement for two or a larger wedding.
